Cantonment Street from Market Street to Queen Street
Partially closed on 17, 20 & 24 November
Thank you for your patience and understanding as essential construction work in Fremantle to renew ageing water pipes and secure the area’s water supply for decades nears the end.
What is happening?
We will need to return to Cantonment Street to complete additional work near Market Street.
During this essential work, Cantonment Street from Market Street to Queen Street will be partially closed on Tuesday 17, Friday 20 and Tuesday 24 November from 7am to 5pm. Pedestrian management and detours will be in place.

Tuesday 17 November
|
- Cantonment Street from Market Street to Queen Street will be partially closed for preliminary service locate work.
- To minimise impact, only one lane will be closed at a time to allow for one-way traffic. During the northern lane closure, traffic will be able to travel from Cantonment Street to Market Street. Driveway and delivery access to Cantonment Street will be via Queen Street.
- During the southern lane closure, traffic will be able to go from Market Street to Cantonment Street. Driveway and delivery access to Cantonment Street will be via Market Street.
- Market Street lanes will not be impacted by this work.

Friday 20 November
|
- Cantonment Street from Market Street to Queen Street will be partially closed for about an hour.
- During this work only one lane along Cantonment Street will be closed at a time to allow for one-way traffic. Market Street traffic lanes will not be impacted by this work.
- Work will then continue within the Cantonment Street verge and footpath near Market Street. Traffic will not be impacted however pedestrian management will be in place.

Monday 23 November |
- Work will progress within the Cantonment Street verge and footpath near Market Street. There will be no traffic impacts however pedestrian management will be in place.

Tuesday 24 November |
- During final brick pavement reinstatement work, Cantonment Street from Market Street to Queen Street will be partially closed.
- One lane along Cantonment Street will remain open to allow for one-way traffic. During the northern lane closure, traffic will be able to travel from Cantonment Street to Market Street. Driveway and delivery access to Cantonment Street will be via Queen Street.
- During the southern lane closure, traffic will be able to go from Market Street to Cantonment Street. Driveway and delivery access to Cantonment Street will be via Market Street. Market Street traffic lanes will not be impacted.
- Final work will also take place in the Cantonment Street verge and footpath near Market Street. Pedestrian management will be in place.
