Upcoming impacts - updated 30 October
Full intersection closure Henry Street and Marine Terrace, 2 November
Partial closure Cliff Street and Marine Terrace, 3 November
Thank you for your patience and understanding as essential construction work in Fremantle progresses to upgrade the stormwater drainage network and renew ageing water pipes.
This work will help secure the area’s water supply for decades to come and improve Fremantle’s stormwater capacity and prevent flooding and damage in the future.
What is happening?
Fremantle Drainage:
The partial Phillimore Street closure will see Phillimore Street eastbound traffic lanes open and westbound traffic use the Short Street and Pakenham Street detour. This partial road closure will finish in mid-November 2020. For more, please view the traffic flow map below.
Preliminary investigation work will take place along Cliff Street within the Fremantle Port Authority in mid-November, we will update you soon on these timings.
Pipes for Fremantle:
As part of construction work to connect the new water pipe to the existing water network the full closure of the Henry Street and Marine Terrace intersection and the partial closure of the entrance to Cliff Street from Marine Terrace is required.
The Henry Street and Marine Terrace intersection will be fully closed on Monday 2 November from 7am to 5pm.
The entrance to Cliff Street from Marine Terrace will be partially closed on Tuesday 3 November from 7am to 5pm. Traffic can still enter Cliff street via the other lane.
Construction work on the last two streets is progressing. Work on Norfolk Street is still on schedule to be completed by mid-November and on Marine Terrace by late November.
The full reinstatement of High Street is planned to take place late November – we will continue to keep you updated regarding the duration and timing of this work.
Please note, the Mouat Street and Marine Terrace intersection will no longer be closed on Tuesday 3 November.
How will this upcoming work impact me?
During the full closure of the Henry Street and Marine Terrace intersection, the previously closed lane on Marine Terrace between Mouat Street and Henry Street will be reopened. This will allow traffic to detour down Croke Street and head either direction on Marine Terrace from the Mouat Street intersection.
During the partial closure of Cliff Street, one lane will remain open to allow traffic to continue to flow from Marine Terrace to Cliff Street. This closure is expected to have minimal impact due to the current traffic management already in place.
Please speak to traffic controllers on site if you need any clarity on the traffic management in place.
We understand this essential work will impact nearby residents and businesses and apologise for the disruption. We will work closely with you to minimise disruption as much as possible.
Traffic impacts:
Traffic management will be in place throughout the duration of the project. Please see a list of ongoing traffic implications below:

There will be a reduction in on-street parking bays. Driveways access will be maintained where possible. |
