Temporary water supply interruption
Temporary water supply interruption corner Norfolk St & Marine Terrace
Monday 9 November 1-3pm
What is happening?
As part of our ongoing commitment to future-proof Fremantle’s water supply, DM Civil, on behalf of Water Corporation, is renewing the ageing water pipes as part of the Pipes for Fremantle 2020 project.
As part of construction work to transfer the property service to the new water main, you will experience a temporary water supply interruption.
When is this happening?
A temporary water supply interruption will impact your property from 1pm to 3pm on Monday 9 November.
Before the Water Supply Interruption
The main tap at the water meter will be turned off during these works. If you have an electric hot water system we recommend you turn off its power supply. This is to protect your water-using appliances, such as coffee machines. Without your meter turned off, air may enter the water pipes, which can cause damage to these appliances.
Here are some handy tips to prepare:
- Fill kettles and store some drinking water in the fridge.
- Use showers or baths before the water supply is interrupted.
- Store water in buckets or other large containers to flush the toilet.
During the Water Supply Interruption
- Toilet cisterns will need to be refilled from a bucket.
- Do not use automatic dishwashers or washing machines.
After the Water Supply Interruption
Once we have completed the work, the main tap at your water meter will be turned back on, Run your inside taps for a minute to remove any air that may be trapped in the pipes before turning your electric hot water system power supply back on. Make sure you collect any running water and use it to water your garden or pot plan.
Discoloured Water
This work may result in the water having a discoloured appearance. If this occurs, the water is still safe to drink. If you experience discoloured water:
1. Run the outside garden tap at the front of your property for a few minutes, until the water clears.
2. Repeat the step above for an outside tap at rear for your property.
3. Call us on 13 13 75 if the water does not clear.
4. Do not use washing machines, dishwashers or other water-using appliances until the water is clear.
For any prolonged water supply issues please call Water Corporation’s 24 Hour Faults, Emergencies and Security Line on 13 13 75.
What are the impacts of this work?
You will notice activity in the area and noise from the construction work.
Please let us know if water supply is critical during this interruption period and we will endeavour to supply a temporary water solution.
Water Corporation appreciates this work will cause inconvenience to some customers and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
