High Street reinstatement

05 Feb 2021

High Street reinstatement and road closure.                 Monday 22 February to Monday 15 March 2021

COVID-19

Water Corporation continues to dedicate all necessary resources and management focus in response to the COVID-19 pandemic – rest assured it is our absolute operational priority.

We are monitoring the health situation daily and adjusting our business operations as needed, in line with WA Government advice.  Safety is always our number one priority.  Our work crews are following all current advice on physical distancing and safe hygiene practices.

What is happening?

As you may know, we plan to return to Fremantle to complete the full reinstatement of High Street between Market Street and Cliff Street. This will include new red asphalt, to be applied from kerb to kerb, new line marking and minor verge reinstatements.

Due to the complexity of the work, safety requirements and to minimise the construction timeframe, a full road closure of High Street from Market Street to Cliff Street, and intermittent intersection closures, will be required for most of the work.

When is this happening?

The work is planned to take place between Monday 22 February and Monday 15 March 2021.  Work will typically take place Monday to Friday, however it is likely that we will implement extended work hours, including weekends and some night work. These extended hours will help minimise disruption on traffic and reduce the overall duration of the work. If you have any concerns about work taking place at night or on weekends, please get in touch.

We will confirm work times with you next week.

We will endeavour to adjust the scheduling of this work in line with COVID-19 requirements and restrictions, where appropriate.

How will this work impact me?

  • Traffic management will be in place. Please follow the detours and speak to crew members onsite if you have any questions.
  • Construction work can be noisy and dusty. As some work will involve cutting into the ground, you may experience extra dust, noise and vibration. Keep your doors and windows closed during the work to minimise these impacts.
  • Footpaths will remain open where possible. If not possible, caution and detour signs will be installed.
  • There will be a decrease in on-street parking. There will be no access to High Street parking from Henry Street to Cliff Street. We will implement additional temporary loading bays on cross streets.
  • Night work will take place at some intersections. Customers will receive at least 48 hours’ notice of any night work and night work will be carried out in accordance with City of Fremantle’s noise regulations.

We understand this essential work will impact nearby residents and businesses and we apologise for the disruption. Please let us know what we can do to assist you personally.
