High Street reinstatement

18 Feb 2021

High Street reinstatement, road closure and intersection closures

What is happening?

As you may know, we plan to return to Fremantle to complete the full reinstatement of High Street between Market Street and Cliff Street. This will include new red asphalt, to be applied from kerb to kerb, new line marking and minor verge reinstatements.

Due to the complexity of the work, safety requirements and to minimise the construction timeframe, a full road closure of High Street from Market Street to Cliff Street, and intermittent intersection closures, will be required.

When is this happening?

Work is planned to take place between Monday 22 February and Tuesday 16 March 2021.

High Street will be closed between Wednesday 24 February and Friday 5 March 2021. Footpaths will remain open and businesses will be accessible.

Work is planned to take place Monday to Sunday between 7am and 5pm. Some work will take place outside of these times, as required. This includes working through the long weekend, including Monday 1 March 2021.

We may need to adjust our plan in response to changes to weather, operational delays or COVID-19 requirements. To stay up to date on timing, register for weekly project updates by emailing: PipesforPerth@watercorporation.com.au.

How will this work impact me?

  • Traffic management will be in place. Please follow the detours and speak to crew members onsite if you have any questions.
  • Construction work can be noisy and dusty. As some work will involve cutting into the ground, you may experience extra dust, noise and vibration. Keep your doors and windows closed during the work to minimise these impacts.
  • Footpaths will remain open where possible. If not possible, caution and detour signs will be installed.
  • There will be a decrease in on-street parking. There will be no access to High Street parking from Henry Street to Cliff Street. We will implement additional temporary loading bays on cross streets.
  • Night work will take place at some intersections. Customers will receive at least 48 hours’ notice of any night work and night work will be carried out in accordance with City of Fremantle’s noise regulations.

We understand this essential work will impact nearby residents and businesses and we apologise for the disruption. Please let us know what we can do to assist you personally.
