Work deferred to Winter 2023
5 days agoTo support local businesses in the area and to mitigate risks of the project impacting on their peak spring/summer trading season, Water Corporation has decided to delay a portion of this project work to Winter 2023.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, delays and pre-existing commitments, installation of the new watermain along Petra St, at the intersection of Canning Highway, between Hammad St and Bicton Centre Shopping Centre (inclusive of the micro-tunnelling) is deferred, and will resume in June 2023. Please refer to the map below.
This decision has been made to keep to our previous commitments made to these businesses, and has been made in consultation and support of the local businesses, their representatives and the local governments.
All remaining work for 2022, as shown in orange on the map, is planned to be completed by November 2022.
We will return next year In June 2023 to complete the sections shown in red as displayed on the map.
We thank you for your patience and understanding while we have been carrying the majority of our essential work across East Fremantle, Bicton and Palmyra. We will keep you updated with more information as we progress.

Delays on George, Fletcher and Moss streets
3 months agoIn March, we notified you about our work delays along George, Moss and Fletcher streets. The laying of the new water pipe along your street is now complete and the final stage of resurfacing the road was scheduled to be completed in April.
With significant ongoing COVID-19 impacts, in addition to the increase in large-scale infrastructure projects in WA and general high demand in the construction industry, there is a lack of available skilled contractors and supply shortages across the state and nationally. Unfortunately, this means further delays to completion of our works on your street.
We are aware of the impact and frustration this is causing but please be assured we are doing everything possible to complete the work as soon as possible – we will update you again when we have a confirmed timeframe.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Upcoming Water Supply Interruptions
6 months agoTo safely install the new water pipe, properties in the area may experience temporary interruptions and pressure changes to their water supply. We will contact you directly if your property is affected.
When is this happening?
Temporary changes to your water supply may occur within the coming months as we progress with construction of the new water pipe.
What will the impacts be?
Water supply interruptions: If your property is affected, you will be notified at least 48 hours in advance. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Water pressure changes: While the new pipe is installed, the flow of water through the network will be redirected which may cause a slight drop in your water pressure. Once the new pipe is installed, the water network and your water pressure will return to normal.
Work within the verge: There will be minor work completed within the verge to access existing water pipes. All areas impacted by construction work will be returned to as close to their original condition as possible.
We thank you for your patience while we carry out this essential work.

We intend to resume work as soon as reasonably possible and appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.
The team working on Fletcher Street has tested negative and will continue working. Please see the 'Staging and Estimated Timeframes' for the most up-to-date information.
The safety of our employees, contractors and the community is our priority, in line with WA Government public health measures.
