Pipes for Perth - Beaufort Street 2022

Between late April and November 2022 Water Corporation will renew 2.1kms of ageing water main on Beaufort Street between Walcott Street in Mount Lawley and Dundas Road in Inglewood.

Work will be carried out in a three stage approach to minimise traffic impacts and to maximise construction efficiency. Each stage will take up to eight weeks to complete.


During construction, both lanes of Beaufort Street (Northbound) will be closed within the stage area and detours will be in place. Beaufort Street (Southbound) will remain unchanged.

Access will largely still be provided to side streets and car parks during the work, from the Southbound lane.

While one stage of work is being completed, the other two stage areas of Beaufort Street (Northbound) will remain open, however detours will still be in place. You can find draft detour maps for each stage on the right.

All construction work will be undertaken within the road, so pedestrian access to businesses will remain open throughout the period. For more information on the pipe location and details, please see our FAQs.

  • Meet the Project Team

    UPDATE - 4 March 2022: Unfortunately, the Inglewood Night Markets have now been cancelled for the remainder of the season, so we are working to find an alternative venue and date to hold our information sessions.


    We'd like to invite you to meet our project team in person.

  • Investigation Work

    Construction is planned to begin around late April, however in the coming weeks, our authorised contractor Civcon will be carrying out investigation work in preparation for construction.

    When is this happening?

    Investigation work will begin from Friday 11 February and will take three to four weeks to complete.

    Where is this happening?

    This work will take place on Beaufort Street northbound between Walcott Street and Dundas Road.

    What will the impacts be?

    Traffic management will be in place and one lane of traffic will remain open throughout the three to four week period.

    Water supply will not be interrupted during the work.

    Night work

    Across the busy intersections of Walcott Street and Central Avenue this work will take place at night to avoid impacting heavy traffic during the day.

    Work at each intersection will take place over 2-3 nights between 8:00pm and 5:00am. Any noisy construction work will be completed prior to 11pm and we will attempt to minimise disruption to residents and businesses as much as possible. Traffic management, including detours, will be in place.

    Walcott Street intersection: Sunday, 20 February – Tuesday, 22 February 2022

    Central Avenue Intersection: Tuesday, 22 February – Friday, 25 February 2022
